Square glass dish with handle. Sides have a very gentle slope to the middle so your food will not fall off the sides. Top edge of the sides has a lip to them. There is a square shaped 1/4″ height foot on the bottom. Handle is wood & stainless steel. Handle screws on tight & snug….no wobbles, but don’t over tighten or one might crack the glass.
Handle can be removed. Handle is in the need of some polish.
I believe this piece to be Elegant Glass, and not pressed glass, but I’m not sure. Reasons I believe that it is Elegant Glass for a number of reasons:
1. It is is footed. It appears to have been ground as it sits evenly on the counter. (Makers of Elegant Glass would
grind the base if bowls & platter so they would sit evenly on a counter)
2. There are not the raised glass seams or marks seen in pressed glass. (Elegant Glass was fire polished to get rid
of the flaws in the glass, the normal straw marks, raised seams, etc. were removed.) This dish is smooth and well
made.
3. Elegant Glass was partially hand made, this piece appears to have some hand workmanship.
There are no cracks, no dings, no breaks, there is a extremely minor chip on one side that can’t be seen, it can
only be felt when one runs there finger along the edge.
